Religious Exploration
with Middle school Youth

6th - 8th Grade

During the 2017 - 2018 school year, middle school youth are invited into the monthly book group, Betwixed and Between (aka B3), where they will explore the interdependent web of life and environmental justice. This group will meet once or twice a month.  Dates are listed below and the list of books will be updated as the group chooses new titles.

September 24th:
  • The book we will talk about is Drowned City: Hurricane Katrina & New Orleans, a graphic novel written & illustrated by Don Brown. The Westchester Library System has many copies.  Please know that it is OK to come even if you haven't read the book. This is a busy time with the start of a new school year. The first meeting will be mostly to get a sense of who wants to participate and which books the youth are most interested in reading.
October 29th (read one or both):
  • 5 Worlds: The Sand Warrior, a graphic novel by Mark Siegel, Alexis Siegel & others
  • Children of Eden, a novel by Joey Graceffa
December 17th (canceled)
January 7th
February 4th
March 4th
April 22nd
May 6th

For more information and to RSVP, contact Sallie Sills, RE Co-Chair.

7th - 9th Grade

We alternate yearly classes for 7th to 9th graders.  2017 - 2018 is an OWL year.

Our Whole Lives (OWL) is a year-long curriculum about relationships, sexuality and faith that models and teaches caring, compassion, respect and justice in a way that affirms the dignity of every individual the importance of personal responsibility. Click the button below to learn more about OWL, and to find the 2017 - 2018 schedule of classes for youth and parents.
OWL

Coming of Age
(COA) is a year-long rite of passage program, guiding them toward a clearer sense of themselves and their place in the congregation and world, as they learn more about UU history and explore their UU identity.  We are also delighted to offer some parent sessions to help parents navigate these topics as they emerge in the lives of your youth. Click the button below to learn more about COA.
