​The Green Team’s Upcycling Project

Help The Green Team keep certain PACKAGING MATERIALS out of the waste stream and earn some funds for other green projects. Some packaging materials is difficult to recycle, but TerraCycle can transform them into useful objects or materials. The UUFNW Green Team will be collecting: 

  • DRINK POUCHES (with or without the straw) and other retort pouches;
  • ORAL CARE PRODUCTS
  • CRINKLY SNACK BAGS, CEREAL LINERS, CANDY WRAPPERS, ETC.
  • HOUSEHOLD/CLEANER PACKAGING: PUMPS, CAPS, TRIGGERS, POUCHES
For what we collect, we receive a donation from TerraCycle to support a Green Team project. Help us! Help the environment! Every week, bring these packaging materials to the Fellowship and put them in the special boxes.

Here’s more detailed information about the 4 categories that we are collecting 

Drink Pouches

ORAL CARE PRODUCTS
​with or without the straw- and other Stand-up or Retort pouches (tuna fish, Meals Ready to Eat, camping foods). These pouches are a laminate of flexible plastic and metal foil. Lack the recycling triangle.

“THE CRINKLIES”:
​SNACK BAGS, CEREAL LINERS, CANDY WRAPPERS, and MORE

Plastic in film form, or a plasticized layer of aluminum), polypropelene or HDPE (High Density Polyethylene). Lacking the Recycle Triangle.
(toothbrushes, tooth paste tubes, caps & boxes, dental floss containers). Lacking the recycle triangle.

HOUSEHOLD Hard Plastics/ CLEANER PACKAGING

PUMPS, CAPS, TRIGGERS, Deodorant containers, POUCHES (flexible cleaner packing). Lacking the Recycle Triangle.
If the item has the recycling triangle, then please recycle it at home as usual!
