UUFNW Pollinator Garden spawns its first Monarch Butterfly!

  1. On April 21, 2019 the UUFNW broke ground for its new pollinator garden
  2. In June, 2019, the pollinator garden was planted with Milkweed shrubs
  3. In July and August, 2019, Monarch butterflies laid their eggs on the Milkweeds
  4. In the first week of August, 2019, the milkweed plants were covered with Monarch caterpillars
  5. On August 11, 2019, two caterpillars migrated to a nearby forsythia bush and spun their chrysalis   
  6. On Sunday August 18, 2019, the first butterfly emerged from its’ chrysalis (below) and UUFNW added a Monarch Butterfly to the dwindling population of Monarchs in the U.S.​
