Please consider joining in helping improve the sound experience in the main worship room.
"Improvement" means
- lowering bad sound reflections
-- allowing you to hear the spoken word more clearly
- improving good sound dispersion,
-- which makes you feel great when singing the hymns, like you're in a big group, not alone.
- not "perfection", just "improvement" :-)
This project is driven by
- data - we've already measured the echoes, and have a target of fixing them, and
- aesthetics, because the changes entail adding some nicely decorated sound absorbing and reflecting structures into the room. There's lots of room for creativity; we'll be building some structures (using volunteers, which may include banners hanging, tall columns at various corners, etc.) And we want these to not only function well but look great!.
We hope to make a significant improvement, using mainly volunteer labor and materials.
Can you help? We will need these kinds of skills:
designers,
architects,
visual / decorators,
do-it-yourself "builders"
