Hello, members and friends of the Fellowship!
I hope you’ve all been enjoying the summer, with its warm breezes and bursting ripeness of the season. While this summer is different from just about any other anyone can recall, many of you are still finding ways to enjoy the company of others—socially distanced, of course—and the chance to spend time outside in nature’s glorious bounty. In fact, perhaps more than ever, people have the time and the inclination to enjoy the great outdoors by hiking, boating, or engaging in other activities that bring us into a quiet, solitary communion with nature. |
In a few more weeks, summer will be coming to an end, which signals the time for our annual Ingathering Worship Service. This year’s Ingathering will be Sunday, September 13.In past years, we have encouraged our members and friends to collect water from their travels—beaches, lakes, and rivers, or even just the pool water from their own back yards—to bring to the Ingathering service. Then we conduct our annual ritual of pouring everyone’s collected water into a common vessel to symbolize the mingling of our diverse experiences over the summer.
Since we are still unable to gather in person, we are instituting a new way of celebrating the water communion of Ingathering. We are asking you to send a photo or video of the various waters you encounter over the summer or some water in a place special to you. It might be a selfie taken by a stream or on a beach, or it might be a short video of your children pouring water from one bucket to another or splashing in your backyard pool.

We will have a vessel outside of the Fellowship to collect our common water. It will be stationed outside by September 1 for you to come by and pour your water in. We hope that you will take a picture or video of this as well. Please send your photos and videos (20 seconds or less) to Rev. Michael at revmichaeltino@gmail.com by Thursday, September 10. Michael will combine these still photos and videos into a presentation that will serve as the Water Ceremony when we gather for Zoom worship on Ingathering Sunday, September 13.
